Finally Finished

I finally finished the dishcloth I was knitting. Dishclothes are supposed to be a quick and simple project. The crocheted ones are for me, but knitting is more difficult; painful even.

We are driving to see my mom later this week. Road trip for Tim's mom, too. There is just no way around it. My mom is giving us a car. It was my Grandpa and Grandma's car, then mom's for the past 13 years and now will be mine. I am thrilled. I was going to rent a car, drop it off and they would pick me up, we'd have lunch and I would drive back in my "new" car. Sounds reasonable, right? Yes, until I found out that one-way rental is $1 per mile. It's over 300 miles. So now we are all going and they will drop me off. I wanted to take these dishcloths with me for mom. Two crocheted ones and one knitted one. I think my favorite is the white crocheted one with the pink border. The pink border was a last minute addition to perk it up a bit.

Oops..hubby just told me that the lawn mower is totalled. We thought it was just a broken pull rope, but further investigation has revealed a broken crankshaft. It was doing so well. I wonder what I hit this time? I think he's a little miffed at me, but he is on his way to buy another. We have to have a mower. I feel bad. :( I tried to be careful, but it isn't always easy to see what's under the grass on the hill next to the road and people have a horrible tendency to throw things out of their cars there because they can't see our house and think it's a desolate straight stretch. I am forever running over beer bottles at that bank.

Oh well, back to happier things. My dishcloths.........

Once in Girl Scouts we were supposed to knit dish cloths. That's when I discovered that except for embroidery, I was challenged for any kind of needlework. Absolutely hopeless. Your post brought back memories of the scouts meeting in the basement of the old Carnegie library where I probably read 2/3 of the books on the shelves, at least the novels.

Lisa, thanks for posting on my blog. You did good on your dishcloth. I can't do that. Wish I could though. I've tried, but just can't seem to get it.

I think you should take the picture under the post "The Nerve" and turn it black and white or sepia. That's my thing. I love to do that. LOL I'd love to see it if you try it.

"See" ya later!

Grapeshot You made me giggle. I took a look at your blog and have bookmarked it. It's great. I love the sentence about how we die a little every time we get obsessed with Jessica, Britney (and I forget the other one). It is so true but I've never heard it put quite so succintly.

Oooh Happymama; good idea! I will try it. I don't know if I typed it or just thought it, but everytime I look at that pic and now the one with me and the "claw" I think of the deadpan "I am smiling." lol

Lisa, you are very crafty! My sister started teaching me to knit in March...I did a few rows at her house, brought it home, and the dishcloth is in its same stage as when I left her 2 months ago! I believe the pattern I'm working on is the blue one of yours on top. (I think it's blue, at least on my screen.)

Anyway, good job! I HAVE to finish mine!!!

Oops, no, it's white.

Hi Deb,

A pale blue one would be pretty! hmmmmmm, something to think about. I'm sure you'll get to it. To be honest, I may not have finished this one if I had messed it up one more time. I kept having to rip the whole thing out and start over, but I really wanted to give mom one knitted one. I made myself one that was pink striped a while back and I love washing dishes with it. It gave me no problems at all. I don't know what was wrong with me this time. lol I think you'll love cleaning with it. The ridges make it really good for scrubbing. :)

sniff, I'll just go and, sniff, do my dishes, sniff, with my thin, supermarket dishcloth, sniff.

Only joking! Great dishcloths, I want to knit now after seeing your dishcloths and some slippers on another blog - can't quite remember where. Blessings. :o)

Oh I saw those slippers! At Pea soup, I think! I want them, too.

If I could remember the name of the website, you could teach yourself enough to make them. That's what I did. ooh oooh Knitting-help.com, I think! There is video of all the stitches. If I can do it, anyone can!

I shall have a look thanks. It's a shame because my mum has just given all her knitting needles to the charity shop. (knitting doesn't help her migraines). I'll just have to pop in and buy it all back! Anyway, I reallllly am going to beddy-byes now. Blessings. :o)

I'd never heard of knitted dish cloths until just recently, and thought - now that's a project I could possibly handle! What a great idea for a gift Lisa. They look so homey - much nicer than Chux wipes.

Wow, your getting a new car of your own. That's exciting. You will have your own wheels now?

Nighty night Sarah. :)

Kelleigh Yes, I'll be so pleased to have it. I had a car and it was ok, then hubby bought a Mercedes (83;really cheap)and the electricals got fried so I went back to driving the old car and the alternator went out. One thing after another, so I have just been driving hubby's "ute" hehe, truck. It's fine, really, except that my boys are huge and squeezing us all in to that truck every day has become a real challenge. They will be very pleased to have room to stretch out a bit. Plus, I adored my Grandma and Grandpa. My grandpa died the year he bought this car and my grandma died the next year, so it's very sentimental for me.
