Collage Fun

I did two fabric collages today and listed them on Etsy. I'm trying to list something every day. Since I got such a late start today and I'll be going out to lunch tomorrow and then choir practice tomorrow night, I decided to do two and list them. They're so much fun to do.

I absolutely love that moment when inspiration comes. I found a totally new flickr person (Artkissed) who was offering free images. I really liked them so I printed them on tranfer paper. I didn't realize I had grabbed the dark transfers...ack. They're handled differently. The first one was a real ironing casualty. The second one I messed up but was able to salvage and the third one...well, I tried to use tracing paper to iron over the transfer since I had no more of their "special" paper. The transfer paper stuck to the transfer. I tried wiping it with a wet towel..nothing. Then I decided I would "stain" the whole thing. Getting it that wet made the tracing paper rub off. Yay! I love it stained and I never would have done it if I hadn't messed up. I really like it when that happens. :)

Nick opened an Etsy shop tonight with his artwork. I'm so happy for him. I hope he does well. His stuff costs more than mine. hmmmm....I might need a cut as his agent. Whatdya think? I'll give you a link when I have it.

Mike is so excited about his new room. He spent the whole evening fixing it up. He kept hugging me and thanking me. I let him have my vcr so he can watch movies in his room since Caleb left him his tv (but it doesn't get any channels. lol) I'd rather he could only watch movies anyway...he watched Waterworld tonight. One of my favorites. I don't know why that movie bombed. I love it.

I have to share something very exciting and important with you. My clothes hamper is empty (except for two things that have to be drycleaned).

No, that was it. hehe I can't tell you how happy it makes me. The boys' hamper is empty too and I have the towels in the dryer now. That means any laundry I do from here on out is just extra. I know you know what I mean. It feels good. The more stuff like that is done, the more I can enjoy making stuff.

I cut out 22 4"x4" squares today for the Crow/Raven Chunky Book Swap! I'm really excited about it. I also have my raven image. I'm trying to decide whether to print it in color or black and white. I have one of each and I'm going to think on it a bit. If you want to know what a Chunky Book is, go look at Judi's site. This is the Christmas chunky book, Santa and Me, that I participated in. Judi coordinated it and made the cover, bound it and mailed it out to all of us. Now she has taken it all apart so everyone can see each page. She doesn't have all the pages up yet, but you can get the idea. It's a lot of fun to do and to see everyone else's pages. I love my book. It makes me smile every time I look at it or pick it up and hear all the little things clacking together.

I guess it's time to call it a night. I'm pretty tired and I have to get up early in the morning. I'm already looking forward to that yummy hot coffee. mmmmmm. Nite. :)

Robyn, I just cut my squares and found a pic. I'm just going to do a little every day, I think...or just follow the process. I learning to trust it. It's always better than if I try to figure out what I'm doing ahead of time.

I was so afraid of the first chunky book that it took me forever to get started...and I did it over 3 times.

I love the quiltie piece that you did. I was wondering what kind of transfer paper you use? I have been using the material that you put in your ink jet printer and I think it messed up my last printer. I am very hesitant to put it in my new printer.
I love chunky books. I do a monthly 4 x4 swap in one of the groups I am in, and I know have over 20 pages. Trying to figure out how I want to put the pages together.
Congrat on the laundry. Now that its just Hubby and I, the hamper isn't so full any more.
Hope you have a great creative day!

YAY to an empty hamper! I just love when that happens. Too bad, they fill up so quickly again. Enjoy it while you can!

Go, Lisa! Did you find a laundry fairy? If so, can you give me her name? I need serious laundry help.

The puppy love is adorable. And I love happy art accidents. Glad it all worked out for you.

Congrats and good luck to your son on opening his Etsy store.

Happy accidents can really make for something even more unique. Hopefully you remember what you did so you can do it again. (that's the hard part).
Congrats on the laundry, I'm with Terri, I need laundry fairies(well I need Merry Maid Fairies actually - lol!)
I am doing one chunky book page right now so if I like it I can then begin an assembly line.
oh and congrats on your son's Etsy shop and yours too. Your quilties are lovely Lisa.
XOXO
