We had a wonderful day! It's been so beautiful this October and November. We've even had the windows open and Patrick grilled some really delicious chicken today. Yum.
Our neighbor gave us tickets for the opening of our new museum! I am so happy that we were able to go. There was such a celebratory feeling being there on this particular day. I remember standing in the old museum looking at the renderings of the future space. And it was truly gratifying to be standing in the actual new space today.
I saw a number of people I knew, including the wonderful woman who married Patrick and me this summer. And also an old friend I'd lost touch with. It was so good to see her.
Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, we rounded the corner and my breath caught in my chest. I couldn't believe my eyes for a second. There splayed out on the wall were two amazing pieces by Howard Finster!!!! He is the most amazing outsider artist and I have dreamt of traveling to Georgia to see the exhibits. And today, here were two of his pieces that someone lovingly donated to the museum. They were my favorite pieces of art in the whole space. I am still flying from seeing them. It was totally unexpected and I recognized his pieces immediately, as he was so constant in his vision.
After we left the museum, we stopped by Nick's booth downtown for a short visit and looked at a few other places with some nice handmade soaps and, of course, Cheryl's table to drool over her beautiful things. Then a few stops and home.
I happily worked on a collage this evening and I'm getting ready to go plant myself in front of a ballgame and crochet.
A perfect weekend day.

It looks like a beautiful museum - inside and out!
Glad you had a magical day :-)
I love museum! I always walk out with renewed inspiration and a sense of peace. I hope it was similar for you.

Kate, it really was!
Kathleen, Thank you. It did feel magical!
Sophie, it was! I was inspired by so many different things about it.
I looked up Howard Finster biography and part of something he said is what I prayed to God some months back one night when I had a dream that woke me up and I felt the need to pray.
Thanks for sharing him with us and for stopping by my blog.
Did you see my finished curtains? I added in another photo of one of the finished ones.
God Bless You and Yours!!!
