Keeping the Peace

You've probably noticed the changes in my blog and maybe my etsy shop. Peace has definitely taken a place in the forefront of my heart and mind recently. I think my art has often been leaning in that direction, but when Holly asked me to be a part of the Etsy PeaceNiks group, it took a little leap.

Not at first. At first, I tried everything else. I'm not sure what the resistance was about. Perhaps my soul knows that I can't do this half-heartedly. Peace is too important. It's not a whim. I can't just decide that it doesn't matter to me anymore.

Once I threw myself into it, I started reading a lot.

It's interesting that to learn about peace, which sounds so wonderful and calm, you end up reading a lot of stuff that is not peaceful at all.

I don't like it. It makes me sad. It makes me want to cry. It makes me angry!

But I know that reacting to those emotions will not do one thing to bring about peace. I cannot allow myself to be caught up in the sad and often negative emotions that naturally accompany the research that one does to understand why peace is even so scarce and necessary.

On the other hand, it cannot be ignored. So what do we do?

Well, what I do is to remember a wonderful thing that Dr. Michael Beckwith said in his speech during a Peace Alliance gathering. He said that when we see news stories or other stories of the oppressive things that are happening, that we should see them as prayer requests. We can't simply take them in as another example of a peace-less society. We can't get swept away in the sadness and injustice. Our hearts would break. And our spirit would, too. That does no good to anyone.

So, what I try to do is to hear these things, as a list of concerns for which the Universe must provide answers and solutions. And then I begin to visualize those concerns, those problems and those needs being met. I begin to imagine the people rejoicing and dancing in the streets, amazed at the awesome power of the Universe, of God, of Creation!

I want to be a part of helping others to think of peace. It is so important that there are many minds thinking of peace, visualizing peace or just feeling happy, loving thoughts.

That is why I am so happy and proud to be a part of the Etsy PeaceNiks group.

I feel like I am just waking up.

I want to learn more and I want to help others learn more about bringing peace to our inner beings and peace to our families, our neighborhoods, and our world.

Bear with me as I learn and share.

I know some of you have been peace workers for so long that it is as natural as breathing and it must seem strange watching this woman suddenly waking up to the whole concept, as if it were a new one.

I think that when one starts learning that the Law of Attraction (and Allowing, etc) can bring about anything, one's desires become larger and less about what one can get for oneself.

I cannot imagine wanting more than peace.

What else is there?

The word itself seems to imply that one has everything one needs to be content.

What else could we wish for?

I wish it for all of us.

Lovely post. I must say however that because you and I want peace, does not mean all people do, and the law of attraction works for them too. I am not sure what to do about that, or if there is anything we can do, but thought perhaps in your reading you have come across something about this...

Sherrie Come right on. :)

Annie, I think that's why it's so important that more and more people are made aware of the possibilities of peace and what it could look like. It's been proven that a positive thought is much more powerful than a negative thought.

Peace is in the mind of God and our joining with that thought of peace, joining the mind of God has to be more powerful than the fear that leads to non-peace.

All the reading that I have done leads to this over and over. Positive is more powerful than negative. If we really visualize peace, if we really see it, it must come. And we (I) have to be careful not to let the media beat us down so that we can no longer see it.

I keep having this thought today that I can't shake: Fear of lack, fear of harm, fear of terror, fear has convinced us that it is ok, even heroic, to sacrifice our children...our babies!...to protect us from those we are convinced are out to get us. Our children. Once we've thrown our children in the line of fire, what is it exactly that we are protecting?

Sorry, soapbox moment. That's probably the kind of thinking that isn't all that helpful. lol I am going to go think about a wonderful PRESENT time when no one has to sacrifice or be sacrificed.

Peace on!

I think it's also important that I add that I think that peace is more than just absence of war. I think it's fundamental that we begin within ourselves, coming to peace with ourselves and others. As Thich Nhat Hahn says, Peace is every step. We become peace and so peace touches everything we touch. When enough people are living their lives that way, it has to make a major impact.

Lisa, I agree, peace must start with each thing we do and say and think everyday. Perhaps that is really the answer to my question.
I can only control what I do, not what others do :-).
