One (yard...ok livingroom) Sale find to entice you

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is also my patriotic contribution. :)  I stopped at an inside sale today and walked away with this beautiful, never been used, enamel coffee pot. I also got a topless black one. This one I got for hubby. He loved it! When I got home from the grocery store I threw the tomatoes in the bowl on the baker's rack and was suddenly struck by the contrast in color. The senses are a wonderful thing, aren't they? Driving home I was enjoying the smell of strawberries inside a very warm truck. It absolutely filled the cab...and then to top it off, I drove past someone mowing..mmmmmm....grass and strawberries.

My favorite laundry detergent (which I buy because it's cheap) smells like rain and today I found 2 little candles for sale that smell that way..although called Vintage gardenia) and also some cheapo hair conditioner that smells rainy too. :)  Love it! I am so grateful for the sense of smell.

I'll tell you about my other finds later. I got some good ones! Right now I have to finish up cooking the potatoes and make potato salad to go with the hotdogs. Hubby's request. I also have his scrubs in the dryer. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! He goes to work in a few hours. tsk tsk.

Catch y'all later. :)

Hmm smells can be so evocative and bring back memories of past times...dare I mention creosote?

I agree, our senses are amazing. Just the smell of strawberries like you describes or the smell of sea & the taste of sweet berries picked from our own gardens and warmed by the sun. It`s such a blessing to have all these senses & I think it helps us to appreciate all the small things in life.

I want to smell like rain too :-) It`s so hard to describe the fragrance of rain but it`s really special and nice.

That`s funny, I`ve been looking for a recipe for a potato salad. Do you got a good recipe? I need it for a barbeque :-)

Sarah...creosote. lol :::blushing::: A favorite smell of many. hehe

VintageWine I don't really have a recipe but it turned out really well tonight. I cook red potatoes because that's what Tim likes..they cook very quickly. I drain and cut them and rinse them with cool water.

In a separate bowl, I mix some real mayonnaise (my mom uses miracle whip salad dressing and that's yummy too), mustard, celery seed, salt, pepper, paprika, I threw in some dry mustard too..just a smidge...and most importantly chopped onions and sweet relish...lots of relish and onions. yummm Then toss the chopped up potatoes in it and chill. I didn't measure anything. I taste the mix before I put the potatoes in in case anything needs added. If you try it, be sure to let me know how you liked it. :)

I love that coffee pot! and you are so right about smells - I had to laugh at strawberries and grass! LOL

Susan, Tim loved it, too! I want to put flowers in it, but he wants to use it for coffee. Can you imagine? hehe

You laughing at strawberries and grass made me laugh. :)

This post is special, because our perception of our world is through our senses...Many more of us need to slow down and notice things like this.
Yes, we are certainly blessed to have them!

Sounds delicious! Of course I`ll let you know if I try it :-)

Enjoy your Sunday!

You make it all sound so wonderful! Thank you Lisa for bringing us back to the little things that I tend to take for granted...like smell. :) Can't wait to hear about your other finds.

Kali, that is one of my favorite things about blogs. I have been made more aware of so many things because someone else has written about them. We are blessed with so many things on a daily basis..it's good to enjoy them.

Karen :) Glad you're thinking about smells. People used to laugh at me because I'd say things like "it smells like Easter." lol Last night Michael went with me to pick Caleb up from work and when we walked out he said "oooh it smells good..it smells like Halloween right there." LOL It did, too...there was a fall smell (some leftover leaves I bet). Like mother, like son I guess. :)

Hulda, those tomatoes do look good don't they? I hope mine grow that nice!

I`ve kept thinking about our amazing senses today. There`s so much I take for granted, but today I`ve tried to appreciate the blessings our senses gives us!

Like right now, I`ve just taken a shower and now my hair smells sweet of pomegranate/litchi/persimmon :-)

And now I`ll soon tuck myself into a bed with fresh sheets that smells clean, I love to do that ;-)

Lisa! I have just come across two blogs I KNOW you will just love.
One is

http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/

Such lovely pictures, I especially thought of you as she has done a post with a picture of a blue house like yours, which she had found at:

http://www.liquidskyarts.com/liquidblog/blogger.html

Covet, covet, covet, too much coveting.

Ahhh! I need to de-covet otherwise I will start to yearn...and we know that coveting is naughty. lol.

VintageWine, your hair sounds yummy! lol Fresh sheets...so nice. Have sweet dreams. I'm glad you noticed scents today. :)

Sarah, you are soooo sweet to think of me when you saw those sites. I've been to allsorts but I haven't seen that house so I'll go back and catch up...and I'll take a look at that other one, too. Now....stop that coveting. hehe

Lisa said...

Sarah, you were right. LOVE them and major coveting going on here, too.

I think we both need to repent of this coveting and visit some sombre depressing sites now to get some balance...I joke...more pretty sites, more, more, more!!! Ok I need a lie down now...

Vintage Wine said...

Lisa, it`s really yummy :-)

No, mrs blythe, I really didn`t need any more blogs to get me into this coveting! ;-)
