Today I just puttered around the house. I organized the kitchen a bit, putting away appliances that I don't use every day. Last night I decided to stop carrying the sewing machine from the bedroom closet every time I want to use it. As Tim suggested earlier, I'm keeping it in the dining room. It fits perfectly under the little sewing machine table. I put a pretty linen over it.

I also have my baskets with supplies in them stacked in the dining room. The middle basket is one I picked up at Goodwill for $2 the other day. I noticed it because I had just seen one at Homespun Living In fact, I got the idea of using the linen there also. She is full of beautiful ideas.

I repotted my miniature rose today. It hasn't been doing well.

And finally, I baked this cake. I don't have a cake plate yet, so I made one by putting one of my favorite dinner plates on top of an upside down bowl.

I hope everyone had a relaxing Sunday.

Looks like you've had a creative day! I really like the baskets stacked for your sewing supplies. I need to learn to think outside the box, literally and figuratively. I finally put my sewing machine in the bottom of my microwave cabinet because I got tired of lugging it from the utility closet to the dining room every time I wanted to sew.

Oh that's a good idea!

My Sunday's are always anything but relaxing. I get up early and get started cooking for the dinner we have here at our house every Sunday between our services. We have family and a couple of friends that eat with us each Sunday. They all bring food and we put it all together and have one big pot luck meal. After getting started with the cooking I get my shower and get ready for church then I get everyone else up at their scheduled times...we have to do the bathroom thing in mini shifts since we only have one bathroom for us to get showered in. Then there is Sunday School and then morning service. Then we all come down to the house for our afternoon dinner with family and the couple of friends...then we go to afternoon service. After that service we come home and I usually have to clean up from everyone being at our house. Then I have to cook supper and THEN I can finally get in my night clothes and relax. But by the time I get good and relaxed...it's time for bed. This is how every Sunday goes for me. But you know what?? I love it!! Please don't think I'm complaining...I'm surely not. I love church and I love the fellowship with everyone that we have.

Lovely little arrangements, as ever! I LOVE your baskets. I have such a soft spot for that kind of baskets. Problem is, they're so expensive here :(

Have a lovely week, Lisa!

Your baskets look nice togheter. I like baskets a lot myself. My sewing machine has its place at our craft room, so I don`t have to carry it. But now and then I use it by the kitchen table. I like the cake plate you made there. :)

Phew I am too tired to type after reading Sis Julie's Sunday activities. Lol, only joking.

I love your little stack of baskets, what a good idea. And the cake looked yummy. Hope your rose picks up. Blessings Lisa :o)

Sis Julie, I'm glad you enjoy it so much. It kind of reminds me of the way Amish services are described in stories. (except, I don't think they do it every Sunday).

Isabelle, Thank you. I was fortunate in the pricing of these baskets. The picnic basket was really cheap from ..hmm I can't remember, but I actually bought it new. Then the flat one was from a thrift shop and the top one was made by my boys' grandmother years and years ago. When the boys were little they wore the lid on their heads. lol

Hulda, thanks. I think it would be nice to have a craft place and I probably will one of these days but right now there is no extra room. Your craft space is nice. I like the way you have it organized.

Sarah, you tickle me. lol The cake was yummy. It's almost gone now...my big boys came home last night and devoured it. :) I hope my rose picks up, too. It stormed last night and when it woke me up all I could think about was my poor little rose out there. :( Poor baby.

It stormed here too this morning. Lots of thunder and lightening. My garden survived though. B was very excited by the thunder and was in danger of falling out of our bedroom window trying to lean out to see the lightening. :o)

Awww. I'm glad she's safe. lol

Tim said he almost got hit by lightening last night at work. He was outside and it hit a transformer about 40 yards from him and the energy knocked him back. Whew..scary. :)

I like your cake plate idea! I would have never thought of that in a million years. I could never see the point in buying one, as we eat very little cake, but it is so nice to have one on the occassion that there is a cake. I will definitely be doing that.

And I'm afraid to sound redundent after all those other nice comments about your baskets, but they really do look nice. I store all my craft stuff in baskets and decorative boxes. The boxes I have stacked by my door and all of my extra threads, some fabrics, and nicknacks are in them (all labelled of course as there are 8 boxes in the stack LOL). My baskets have no covers, so, I store books, patterns and kits and things like that (whatever I can fit in them LOL). They really help with organization.

I hope your husband is ok after that storm. Sounds like he had the wind knocked out of him.

WOW! Extra long comment today. LOL Enjoy your day, Lisa!

Lisa, Glad to hear that Tim is safe. Your sewing machine doesn't look out of place at all. It fits in just perfect. And those sewing baskets look so nice. It is a pain having to pull the machine out when you want to sew. It makes you not want to sew, thinking you have to pull it all out. I have my sewing machine set up in my closet. It's not the biggest space, but it beats have to pull everything out.

I know I am just repeating the same but wanted to say I too love your "cakeplate idea"...I do have a cake plate (in fact we received at least 5 for wedding gifts. lol)...but sometimes you want a different look of different height, or are serving more than one dessert. So I will be tucking that away in my stash of *repurposing* ideas. :)

Beautiful delicate linen!

The baskets too are neat in their stack. I have picked up ones here and there at thrift stores for the girls to keep their toys (play kitchens, my little ponies, etc.) but now am thinking I might do some rearranging. ;)

I'm a FIRM believer that our homes are to be functional first and then pretty. In your case you've managed to do both!

I LOVE baskets too!

Thanks Karen, Shereen and Roberta,

I'm glad it gave you some ideas. I love the blogworld for that. No doubt I got the ideas somewhere else on here. lol

Aww thanks Mrs. B. We must have been posting at the same time. I was responding to comments and when I came back yours had sneaked in there. :) You're so kind.
