Moving Forward

Yesterday Patrick and I had our first day of showing our art at the Roanoke Farmer's Market! All of the vendors were saying that it was a slow day. Patrick made a sale so we called it a success for our first day! We got a lot of nice feedback. The woman who made a purchase had such a wonderful spirit about her and she commented on the spirit of Patrick's assemblages. To me, that made yesterday perfect! It IS the Spirit of the thing for both of us.

We still have a lot of changes to make to our booth. We sort of just made some things work for us. I haven't yet figured out how to hang or display canvas board so my paintings were all on the ground and kept blowing over. If I don't figure something out, I'll have to stop using canvas board and move on to wrapped canvas which will be easier to hang.

If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be happy to hear them.

We met another artist yesterday, too. She's a fibre artist and was just looking around yesterday but she often sells there, too. She had a lot of awesome feedback for us and some suggestions. We really appreciated her.

Today we meet with the minister who will marry us. I can't believe it's coming up so soon!

We have been moving forward in all areas for the past couple of weeks. We've had a lot of time to think and plan and now we feel it's time for action. It feels really good!

I'm going to be stepping up SoulCollage, too. I still feel it is important work and MY work. I need to calm the butterflies and go for it. :)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Much Love!

Congratulations To You and Patrick!

You might try twisting a piece of wire into the shape of a hanger and taping it to the back and maybe even decoupage some paper over it. Work with it so it doesn't poke out. You don't want someone getting poked by the wire ends or them poking out of the tape.

I recycle juice tabs for my
wrapped canvas when I hang them.

God Bless You and Yours!!!

When are you getting married?

Congratulations on your first Farmer's Market and on your sale. I don't know how to hang canvas board other than in a frame.

Can't wait to hear about your wedding and see pictures. It must be exciting for you.

*hugs*

I got to thinking about the paper covered wire that you get if you buy in bulk. You know the type that you have to write a bin # on and wrap it around your purchase of flour, nuts, etc.
You could recycle it by folding the paper than maybe wrapping it with tape. Twist into a hanger shape. Fold it like you meeting two ends together like maybe you were going to tie a shoe string but not all the way. Just have them meet in the middle. Make it curve like a loop. Tape in on the back and mod podge some paper over it for reinforcement. I hope I explained myself right.

If your not understanding me. I'll see if I can take photos and put them on my blog.

Another idea popped in my head.
How about doing the same thing
with twine. Twine is cheap.
You can fray the bottom a little
so it would lay flat when you tape
it down than mod podge some paper
over it for reinforcement.

If you use the paper wire, I think
it could be cut it in half and
make two hangers out of it.

I loved reading about your weekend at the Farmers' Mkt and your impending wedding. Coratulations, Patrick on the sale that first day! Thank you so much, Lisa, for your prayers and for just being here. I knew I could count on YOU.

Love,
Alberta

I have several ideas for you...from seeing all the displays in our market. Call me! You can use lattice or screening to hang the canvases from.

Look's like I can't get the link to work. So I put it on my blog if you want to check it out.

I found a link for one way to display art.
I don't know how they would work with canvas board but if you have one of those around the house you can test it. I put a link to the idea on my blog for you if you want to check it out.

Look's like Pam has some ideas.

When you find something that works for you, maybe it could be posted at Violettes under Supplies and Techniques.

God Bless You and Yours!!!

Thanks Flassie for all your great ideas! You are a wonder! I found out yesterday that I can use just about any frame for them if I just remove the glass so I think that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Pam, I'm going to try to give you a call today!

Thanks Sophie, Alberta and Angela! I think we're going to videotape! lol We cried just trying out the vows and hearing her blessings last week. I don't know how we'll make it through the wedding. :)

If you find that framing is to costly try Pams or my suggestions.

But you can also get used frames and embellish them too. That would cut the cost.

Or make frames yourself.

God Bless you and Yours.

I like that idea that I put a link to on my blog. I think I might try it and see if it works. I also put a link up to your blog saying that the link was for you and also where I found it.

Sometimes I don't remember where I find a link, but this time I did.

I really liked that idea, too. With the pants hangers, right? I still may try that. You could even paint the hangers which would look cool. Thanks for everything Flassie!!

Hey Mz. Froggy. Gosh, I've been away so long I have missed out on a lot! You are finally displaying...wonderful!! Good luck with it! When I did outdoor shows I used lattice, but for canvas board, which does not have frames or hangers, you might just put them in a display rack (or bin) that people can flip through.

Marry you??? WHEN?? Please don't let me miss this. In case I don't blog visit again for awhile (I'm trying) email me with the news..please??? love you so much. xoxoxo

Congratulations to Patrick for his sale....I think it's great that you are both doing the farmer's market sale. It must be a lot of work but I'm sure it's also very fulfilling.

Be sure to tell us more about the wedding!!

How wonderful that Patrick made a sale on the first day out. Congratulations to both of you for putting your things out there in a new form as well.

I'm so happy to hear about an upcoming wedding for the 2 of you. You truly sound like kindred spirits and I wish you the best.

Congrats!!!
As a suggestion for your canvas boards, you could buy those picture tabs that you just wet and stick on. They have a metal hook on them.

You could also use those picture holders that look like plate holders. You know the ones you use for decorative plates.

Let me know if I've confused you. I can look around for a pic of some or send you a few of the wet tabs.

Hope this helps.
